Thermal Expansion:
Thermal Expansion is the cycle of heating and cooling of the temperature. This can only happen with certain rocks, like crystals, that expand, though there is only a slight size change. What happens, is the inner rock gets heated, and cooled, over and over again, and the grains of the rocks slowly loose grip; it expands a little, and a little more and a little more. It eventually pushes the top layer of rock of, breaking it into a smaller rock. Since weathering is the breaking down of rock, it is definitely a type of weathering. This type of weathering is found in places with bigger climate and temperature changes throughout the day—places like the dessert. This type of weathering takes years, to push a layer off.
